Day 2: 1 August 2005

The forecast for today was much better -- 1.5m/s thermals to 1500m. The sky was blue with cu forming before briefing.

A fixed task of almost 270km was set.

Standard class was last to launch behind Club then Racing Class. The launch started exactly on time.

After launch we went back to Aussie base to monitor the start, lie in the sun, eat ice creams, read the latest Harry Potter book (thanks Brendan) and listen to iPods.

During the day, a K8 arrived, earning its pilot her 50km.

Again there was a commentator, music, the Motorfalke and Puchacz out for visitors, food and merchandise shops. The crowds of yesterday were not there since its Monday not Sunday but there were still more than you would ever see come out to watch a competition in Australia.

Eventually we were able to pick up our girls talking on the Aussie frequency, heralding that they were getting closer to Klix again.

After some time, they changed over to the finish frequency and called 10 km. Then we went out to the runway to watch and photograph/video the finish.

Swaantje had a better run and at the time of writing, it appears she has won the day for Club Class.

We finished the day with a BBQ of chicken, steak and sausages and Ralph's famous veggies from last year (Hopefully not the vegies from last year! -- Ed)
