Closing Ceremony

Today, true to form, the closing ceremony was delayed due to rain.

Overnight the FAI flag appeared on our flagpole and the Klix organization blamed us!!!!! So they stole the Aussie flag as payback. But we managed to get the Poms to admit it was them.

We gave the Poms the missing bit of "their" flag (the blue bit with the stars) in front of everyone as the marching was about to begin.

When finally the rain cleared, we assembled and marched behind our flags to an area in front of the hangars for prizegiving.

The prizes here are very generous with each of the top 5 in each class getting a bunch of flowers, and a special gift from the host club. These gifts were a bike for the winner, a digital camera for second and I didn't see third, fourth or fifth.

In addition there were FAI medals glass trophies for places 1-3 and, the big FAI trophy for the winner. The girls were having trouble juggling and shaking hands.

It was wonderful to see Swaantje win the silver.

Afterwards we enjoyed champagne in the hangar.

The organisers had a DVD for sale with photos and video of the comp. It was really well done and our little Peter managed to become quite a movie star.

Now we need to pack the camper and head off (a daunting task). Many are off to the next contest here in Germany.

So no more from me for the contest. Bye from Klix.
