We went to Phillip Island, east of Melbourne, to see the penguin colony.
Of course, we'd neglected to consider that Easter is the time of year for the Phillip Island 500cc Motorcycle Grand Prix, so the chances of actually getting to the penguins were roughly the same as the chances of a chocolate bar surviving the night in a "fatties anonymous" orientation camp.
The Koalas, on the other hand, were sufficiently close to the causeway joining the island to the mainland that we could see them without needing to give up our habit of ignoring the Grand Prix.
It must be a good life.
